About DeckBoardEstimator.com

DeckBoardEstimator.com provides free deck planning calculators for US homeowners, DIY builders, and contractors who want a quick, realistic material estimate before heading to the lumberyard.

What this site does

Every tool here answers one specific question about a deck build, in US feet and inches, with no signup and nothing to install:

How the calculators work

Each calculator shows the formula it uses on the page itself. Nothing is hidden behind a black box: the row math, the offcut handling, the waste allowance, and the rounding rules are all written out so you can check the numbers by hand if you want to.

The math is built around what physically fits. Board rows are counted so that the boards and the gaps between them never add up to more than the deck is actually wide, and board counts always round up to whole boards, because that is what you buy.

Who it is for

The tools are written for people planning a deck in the United States: homeowners pricing a project, DIY builders working out a shopping list, and contractors wanting a fast sanity check. Measurements use feet and inches, and the presets reflect common US lumber and composite sizes.

What these tools are not

Every result on this site is an estimate for material quantities only. The calculators do not determine structural design, joist or beam sizing, footing requirements, spans, load capacity, ledger or connection details, or code compliance.

Framing sizes and structural requirements must be verified separately. Always confirm your own measurements, check product dimensions and installation instructions with the manufacturer and supplier, and verify structural and permit requirements with your local building department before buying materials or starting work. For structural questions, consult a licensed contractor, engineer, or building official.
